Who Am I?

By: Adele Curzon

About The Piece:

This poem explores themes of self-exploration and where one stands in the world.

1–2 minutes

Gliding portraits need surrender,
Moving farther, getting softer.
Portraits moving to the slaughter.
Water’s echoes start to falter.
Broken pictures start to alter

The question, “Who am I?”
Thoughts falling, faces taunting.
Stop-motion perception, blurring names.
Who am I?
How am I seen in other’s eyes?
Who am I?

Twisted,
Our eyes see tilted,
Our sight misshapen.
Are all perspectives shaken,

Bent by first impressions?

Who am I?
Will people find me, can I hide?
What will I see in their eyes?
I wish I knew.
Who am I?

Water’s echoes start to falter,
Twisted by interpretation.
Moving farther, getting softer
All our visions, twist, contort.
Broken pictures start to alter,
Me no longer, who am I?
